Today (October 14, 2016): Travel Tip: how to book the Park Hyatt Maldives with a 70% discount?
Park Hyatt Hadahaa is one of the most exclusive hotels in the Maldives. Situated on a private island 55 km (35 mi) north of the Equator in one of the world’s deepest atolls, the resort is a strikingly modern design resort. Featuring only 50 villas, the minimalist style interiors of the accommodation are designed with the utmost comfort and luxury in mind, whether nestled within the island’s tropical foliage, only steps from the ocean, or elevated above the water. All villas feature floor-to-ceiling windows, and every comfort you would expect, with some villas having the added luxury of a plunge pool. The resort is framed by one of the archipelago’s most unspoilt house reefs, providing easy access for exploration of the underwater marvels of the Indian Ocean. I will post my review of the Park Hyatt Maldives soon.
For a limited time, there is now a trick to book a stay the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa with a hugely impressive discount of more than 70% at $366 USD per night (inclusive of taxes). To make use of the trick (which I explain below), you need to be a member of Hyatt’s loyalty program Hyatt Gold Passport, but subscription to the program is complimentary. Hyatt Gold Passport is one of my favorite hotel loyalty programs in the world, and you can read here my review of the program (with pros and cons).
Hyatt Gold Passport is offering up to a 40% bonus on purchased points through October 25th. The 40% bonus only applies when you purchase at least 10,000 points in one transaction. If you purchase less than 10,000 points, you will receive a 30% bonus with this offer. If you almost max out the promotion and purchase 54,000 points you’d receive a total of 75,600 Gold Passport points for a cost of $1,296 USD (or $1.71 USD cents per point).
75,600 Hyatt Gold Passport points is enough for a 3 night stay at the Park Hyatt Maldives, which is a Category 6 Hyatt property and requires 25,000 points per night. This comes down to $432 USD per night after purchasing the 54,000 points with a 40% bonus. Since the cheapest rates at the property are more than $1,300+ per night (inclusive of all taxes) in high season, I consider this to be a discount of more than 60%. Note that this will get you a villa at the Park Hyatt Maldives at an amazingly low price, but you will still have to pay transfers (domestic flight) to/from the resort and all meals.
In theory, you could stretch your heavily discounted holiday at the Park Hyatt Maldives from 3 to 6 nights by booking your stay using a combination of points and cash. This would cost you per night $150 USD and 12,500 Hyatt Gold Passport points and – contrary to a points only booking – it comes with breakfast. Taking the price of the points purchase into account ($1,296 USD), this comes down to amazing $366 USD per night (inclusive of all taxes), representing an effective discount of more than 70%. Unfortunately, points+cash availability is only available at the Park Hyatt Maldives for selected days, contrary to points only bookings which are widely available throughout the year.
Enjoy the weekend and stay tuned for Monday when I reveal a new top 10 travel list.
